YAX 3420-1 / YAX 3419-1 matrix on heavy vinyl with a deep black lustre, whisper/paper brushes and occasional faint hairlines. Playgraded; Amazing sound from a 45yr old record, very occasional background noise, the odd tick, but nothing to distract or detract from the sound quality. Perfect Columbia white and Gold rim labels with sticker on Side 2 label "Unverkaufliche Musterplatte".

Release Information: Original first press/issue with "Bestell-Nr" above the catalogue number on the right side of the label.

Front Cover: Kaleidoscope band photo. Glossy. Columbia/EMI logo and catalogue number in top left corner.
Back Cover: White with tracklisting. Title in red letters at the top. In the top right corner it says STEREO auch MONO abspielbar SMC 74 321, and the MC-number 238 1575004 (on some copies there is no MC number). In the lower left corner is the Columbia/EMI-logo. Credits says "Nicky Mason - Drums. "
Labels: White Columbia label with red text, a gold border, and the Columbia logo at the top. "Made in Germany." At the bottom of the label is "ST" and "33" in two interlocking circles.

Text around the top edge of the label starts at 7 o'clock and says:

'Urheber- und Leistungsschutzrechte, besonders Vervielfältigung (Ausser zum persönlichen Gebrauch) Vermietung, Aufführung, Sendung, vorbehalten.'
Text around the bottom edge of the label starts at 7 o'clock and says:

'Made in Germany'.

Sleeve : Light scuffs to top & bottom edge. Bumped corners. Spine has an 8cm spine split "The Pink Floyd" and catalogue No. are still readable. Laminated front & rear covers are clean & glossy with minimal faint finger creases. In remarkable condition considering it's 45yrs old.

Vinyl : Deep black lustre. Whisper marks and occasional hairline. Plays really well with occasional background crackle (only noticeable during quieter sections) and very rare pop. No jumps/skips or distortion.

Label : Clean & sharp with interesting sticker on Side 2 (See photograph). Sticker reads " Unverkaufliche Musterplatte " German for 'Test Pressing'. The sticker looks much newer than the 1967 label. Pinkfloydarchives.com give this description for a PATGOD Test Press:-

 "Test Pressing: A test pressing (Unverkaufliche Musterplatte) was issued on a white label with black text. Matrix number: YAX 3419-1 / YAX 3420-1. The label has a sticker with ELECTROLA-GES.M.B.H.KOLN across the top in black, the catalog number SMC 74321 stamped in green, and the words PINK FLOYD handwritten in blue ink."

So probably not a genuine Test Press, but certainly a very rare 1st press of the 1st Pink Floyd album
